What to describe when you request help
- Buildup returns after ordinary clearing.
- The provider identifies a suitable line and access point.
- A documented obstruction calls for more thorough cleaning.
Clearing, cleaning or looking inside?
Compare what each tool does. Select a card to highlight the question to ask; the method descriptions stay visible.
Snaking / cabling
Acts mechanically on an obstruction.
Ask which access point is suitable and whether flow was fully restored.
Hydro jetting
Uses water to clean suitable pipework.
Ask how pipe condition and the obstruction affect method selection.
Camera inspection
Records the visible condition of a line.
Ask for the location and recording behind a recurring-blockage recommendation.
Ask how pipe condition and the obstruction affect method selection.
Educational comparison. A professional chooses a method after assessing access, obstruction and pipe condition.
Condition and access come first
A qualified operator should assess the pipe, blockage and available access before selecting jetting equipment. A damaged or unsuitable line may need a different approach. Do not infer suitability from a house’s age or from a generic service description.
Snaking and jetting do different work
A cable machine can open or remove an obstruction; jetting may be used to remove certain deposits from pipe walls. The practical question is which method addresses the actual finding without unnecessary risk.
Ask what inspection will show
Camera inspection may help document condition, but an obstructed line can limit visibility. Ask whether inspection happens before cleaning, afterward or both, and what is separately included.
Do not use pressure as the sales test
Higher pressure is not a universal measure of better service. Professional selection includes the pipe, nozzle, flow, obstruction and safe operating procedure. This page is not a guide to operating a water jetter.
Questions before booking
Can every old sewer line be hydro jetted?
No. Suitability depends on the actual line and findings. Ask the provider to explain why jetting is appropriate.
Does jetting repair a cracked line?
No. Cleaning and structural repair are separate tasks.
