What to describe when you request help
- Water remains in one or both sink bowls.
- The dishwasher cycle causes the sink to fill.
- A recently cleared kitchen drain slows again.

Debris near a trap is one possibility. A clear opening does not rule out a restriction farther downstream. Describe the fixture and any other affected drains.

If only the kitchen is affected, explain that to the provider. If toilets, tubs or other rooms also back up, the restriction may be farther along the shared drainage route. Stop the appliance that is feeding the backup rather than running another cycle to test it.
Grease is a prevention issue as well as a cleaning issue
Fats, oils and grease can collect in drainage systems. Scrape cookware and keep grease out of the sink; hot water or a disposal is not a reason to pour cooking fats down a drain. A professional can assess whether the blockage is near the fixture or farther along the branch.
Explain earlier attempts
Tell the provider about products, plunging or previous clearing. Do not mix drain cleaners or add another product to an unknown chemical already in the line. Follow the product label and keep the container information available.
When cleaning is not the whole answer
A disposal malfunction, incorrect connection, damaged pipe or recurring obstruction may require a different task. Ask what was found and whether additional work needs separate approval.
Dishwasher not draining or a blocked kitchen sink?
Describe whether the sink is also holding water and where the backup appears. A restriction in the connected sink drain is different from a dishwasher hose, filter or pump fault. Tell the provider if the appliance alone is affected so they can confirm whether drain clearing or appliance service is appropriate. Do not reach into a disposal or repeat a cycle to reproduce an overflow.
Questions before booking
Does a disposal prevent clogs?
No. A disposal does not make grease or unsuitable food waste safe for the drain. Keep fats and solids out of the system.
Do I need hydro jetting for a sink clog?
Not automatically. The provider should choose a method based on the obstruction, pipe condition and available access.
