The short answer

Start with the city, street and ZIP. Explain whether it is a house, apartment, duplex or commercial space. If rented, identify who can authorize the work and how the provider can gain access.

Describe the symptom in everyday words

Examples include “both toilets will not flush,” “the tub fills when the toilet flushes,” and “the washer standpipe overflows during pump-out.” These descriptions are clearer than simply requesting a snake.

Explain history and chemical use

Mention recurrence, previous clearing or camera inspection and every drain product used. Keep any labels and old reports available. Do not conceal a chemical because you think it was ineffective.

Confirm the scope before booking

Ask whether availability is confirmed for your address, what the assessment includes and whether clearing, inspection or cleanup are separate. Arrival windows and job details should be confirmed by the actual provider.

Rental homes and who can authorize the work

If you rent, contact the landlord or property manager and follow the property’s repair procedure. Give the provider the authorized contact and access instructions. For several units backing up, describe the building-wide pattern; a single-unit drain visit may not cover a shared building sewer.
