What to describe when you request help
- The same line blocks repeatedly.
- The provider needs to assess a cleared section.
- You need documented findings before approving more work.

Clearing, cleaning or looking inside?
Compare what each tool does. Select a card to highlight the question to ask; the method descriptions stay visible.
Snaking / cabling
Acts mechanically on an obstruction.
Ask which access point is suitable and whether flow was fully restored.
Hydro jetting
Uses water to clean suitable pipework.
Ask how pipe condition and the obstruction affect method selection.
Camera inspection
Records the visible condition of a line.
Ask for the location and recording behind a recurring-blockage recommendation.
Ask for the location and recording behind a recurring-blockage recommendation.
Educational comparison. A professional chooses a method after assessing access, obstruction and pipe condition.
What a camera can contribute
A provider may use the view to document roots, deposits, joint changes or visible damage. Ask where the camera traveled, what could be seen and what remained obscured. A recording should be interpreted with the symptoms and line access.
Visibility has limits
Standing wastewater and a blockage may prevent a clear view. The provider may need to restore enough flow first. A camera does not make every section accessible or answer every question about the surrounding ground.
Ask for useful documentation
Request the location, observed condition and a plain-language explanation. If available, keep video or images and any locator notes. This makes a later second opinion or repeat visit more productive.
Inspection is separate from repair
Ask whether the quoted scope includes clearing, inspection, location work or only one of them. A visual finding should lead to an explained recommendation, not an automatic full-line replacement.
Questions before booking
Will a camera clear the drain?
No. Inspection and clearing are different tasks, even when booked together.
Can the provider inspect a completely blocked line?
Visibility and access may be limited. Ask how the obstruction will be handled and what can be documented afterward.
